Atlanta Pedestrian Accidents Don’t Only Occur at Intersections

From a young age, people have been taught to look both ways before crossing the road, in order to stay safe. However, pedestrians don’t even have to cross a street for them to be in danger. In fact, anytime pedestrians are near moving motor vehicles, their safety is in jeopardy.

Recently, a pedestrian was walking along the side of a road in northwest Atlanta when he was struck by a car. This Atlanta pedestrian accident occurred on Joseph E. Boone Boulevard early Sunday morning, August 4, 2013. Atlanta police indicated that the pedestrian was thrown about 50 to 75 feet in the air, and was even knocked out of his shoes due to the force of the impact.

Sadly, this pedestrian was seriously injured and transported to Grady Memorial Hospital. He has since been identified as 63-year-old Larry Waller, a loving father and grandfather, who lives very close to the accident scene. Family indicated that Mr. Waller was returning home from the store and had walked this same route for over 30 years. Unfortunately, the driver who struck the pedestrian fled the scene.

When people are injured in Georgia pedestrian accidents due to negligent drivers who choose to flee the scene, they need to turn to an experienced accident attorney for legal representation.

If you have been injured by a reckless driver, you should contact the Law Offices of Shane Smith and speak with a knowledgeable Peachtree City pedestrian accident attorney in a free case consultation today at 770.487.8999.
