According to the Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Analysis Division, 31 percent of large truck accidents in 2009 were caused by truck driver-related factors including speeding, distracted driving and failing to maintain the proper lane. If you are the victim of a Big Rig wreck it is important to have an experienced truck accident attorney in Clayton County who can get the proper compensation.

A 20-year-old Georgia student was recently struck and killed by a tractor trailer while he was cycling. According to the Atlanta Police Department, the cyclist turned left at an intersection from between two other cars. A tractor trailer was headed straight in the other direction and did not see the cyclist turning. The truck driver claimed by the time he saw the bicycle he was unable to stop his truck. The cyclist was hospitalized and died six days later of his injuries. The truck driver was not arrested or charged in the accident.

Two percent of all people injured in a road accident are on bicycles. In 2011, 677 people died in accidents between a bicycle and a vehicle. There were also approximately 48,000 injuries from accidents involving bicycles and automobiles.

If you or someone you know has been hurt by a truck driver, meet with a truck accident lawyer at the Law Offices of Shane Smith. We can assist you in every stage of your case including obtaining the available evidence.
