SJ was involved in a motor vehicle accident on May 17, 2011 in Baldwin County, Georgia. The other driver negligently failed to maintain a proper lookout, negligently failed to maintain lane, and negligently failed to maintain control of the vehicle. After this collision, SJ required medical attention. At the Emergency Room, she was examined by the emergency room physician. SJ presented with complaints of vaginal spotting. She was given a full check up due to her pregnancy. SJ was given prescriptions for the sustained injuries. Upon discharge, SJ was instructed to rest and to take the prescribed medications. She was also advised to seek follow up medical care for the injuries sustained. SJ continued to suffer pain from the sustained injuries. Following the emergency room physician's advice, she sought further medical care. SJ was seen by Dr. Ken Simpson of Simpson Chiropractic. She had continued to suffer from pain in her head, neck, and back. Dr. Simpson diagnosed her with hyperflexion/hyperextension injury and multiple strains and sprains in her back. Dr. Simpson also found that SJ had reduced range of motion in her neck and back. She was prescribed a conservative program of physical therapy to treat her symptoms. The goal of this physical therapy was to increase the range of motion, decrease pain, and aid the muscles and ligaments in healing. The claim was settled against Cotton States Insurance once SJ completed his treatment.
