Pantless Teacher's Aide Arrested for DUI

According to statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 2,597 people were killed in United States traffic accidents in December 2010. Of those, 775 deaths involved alcohol-impaired drivers. A 2006 study by the NHTSA estimated that there is one drunk driving fatality in the United States every 30 minutes.

Georgia's Driving Under the Influence Laws are complex. Georgia DUI injury attorney Shane Smith can sort through the intermingled laws that potentially create complications in a DUI case.

A 41-year-old middle school teacher's aide was arrested in another state for DUI. However, she was unable to perform a field sobriety test until officers made her put on her pants.

The woman was stopped for speeding and officers noted the smell of alcohol and the woman's slurred speech. When they asked her to step out of her car to perform a field sobriety test they noticed that she was not wearing any pants or underwear. The woman was going to perform the field sobriety test and had to be told four times to put her pants on.

The woman's blood alcohol concentration (BAC) was recorded at 0.135 and 0.137 percent and she was arrested for misdemeanor DUI.
