Four people are in critical condition after a two car accident in Coweta County.
The Georgia car crash occurred at about 9:13 a.m. on Monday, January 3 at the intersection of Poplar Road and Bill Hart Road.
Thirty-eight-year-old Melissa Deegan of Senoia, GA was driving her 1997 Toyota Corolla northwest on Poplar Road. Her two children: a two-month-old girl and a ten-year-old boy were in the car. She stopped on Poplar Road and waited to turn left onto Bill Hart Road when her car was rear-ended by a 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The Monte Carlo was driven by 48-year-old Karen Cook, also of Senoia.
The force from the impact caused the Corolla to slide across Poplar Road and land in a ditch.
Ms. Deegan and her children were taken to separate hospitals for treatment of critical injuries. The at-fault driver was also critically injured and was transported by ground to Atlanta Medical Center.
The accident remains under investigation as police collect evidence and try to recreate the events leading to the Coweta County crash. Alcohol and drugs are not thought to be contributing factors. No arrests have been made at this time.
