Gainesville pedestrian struck outside post office

A Gainesville, Georgia woman was struck by a car while trying to cross a busy street. She was hospitalized with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
 
Carol Chester, 67, was crossing the northbound land of Green Street shortly after 10am on Friday, February 19. She was hit by a 2001 Buick Park Avenue. The car was being driven by Marion Steele, also of Gainesville.
 
Ms. Steele was exiting the post office parking lot. She was watching for traffic on the left and did not see the pedestrian.
 
Ms. Chester was not crossing in a designated cross walk. After the accident, she was taken by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment of her injuries. She is listed in fair condition.
