A high-speed police chase that began in DeKalb County ended in southwest Atlanta during rush hour Monday.
The chase ended when the suspect crashed into the median on Langford Parkway, near the intersection with Stanton Road.
Footage from a television news chopper showed the suspect driving erratically through the southbound lanes of I-85, sometimes driving into the emergency lanes, just prior to crashing.
The suspect was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Police said the driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pulled over in DeKalb County for a strange lane change. Channel 2 Action News reported that the car matched the description of a vehicle connected to recent burglaries and robberies in Stone Mountain. When the officer approached the car, the driver pulled off and the chase began, authorities said.
Authorities allegedly found an open container in the vehicle after the chase.
