A 17-year-old Fayetteville resident sustained serious injuries early Sunday morning when he was struck while crossing Ga. Highway 74 in Tyrone.
Tyrone Police Sgt. Eric DeLoose said the accident occurred when Christian Kennedy was crossing Hwy. 74 at Dogwood Trail Sunday morning at approximately 6:45 a.m., well before sunrise.
A driver of a vehicle traveling northbound on Hwy. 74 did not see Kennedy in the roadway and subsequently struck him, DeLoose said, adding that the front driver’s side bumper struck Kennedy.
Kennedy sustained serious injuries and was transported to Atlanta Medical Center, said DeLoose.
DeLoose said the driver was shaken but not cited, adding that speed was not a factor in the incident.
