Reduce the DUI Limit to Curb Georgia Drunk Driving Crashes

Shane Smith
Advocate for the Seriously Injured in Georgia

http://www.shanesmithlaw.com/ Are you aware that drivers can feel the effects of alcohol impairment below a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08? While the U.S. government has allowed people to drive up to a .08 BAC, over 100 other countries have already reduced BAC limits to .05 or lower.

Because drunk driving crashes in Georgia and nationwide continue to be one of the biggest killers in this nation, the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is asking all states to reduce the legal blood alcohol limit to .05 in order to reduce drunk driving fatalities. Every year there are approximately 10,000 people who die in drunk driving accidents nationwide including about 400 people in Georgia who are killed by drunk drivers.

If you are a Georgia DUI victim, or if you know someone who lost a loved because a driver got behind the wheel of a vehicle impaired, we encourage you to support the recommendations made by the NTSB to reduce alcohol-related accidents in Georgia and nationwide. Because the American Beverage Institute and the Restaurant Industry will fight against lowering the DUI limit so that they don’t lose out on money from alcohol sales, it is critical to voice your support to our state and federal representatives to help get this recommendation turned into law.

Georgia DUI injury attorney Shane Smith applauds the NTSB’s efforts to improve motorists’ safety, and supports lowering the threshold for legal drunkenness to reduce and hopefully eliminate drunk driving crashes. http://www.shanesmithlaw.com/contact.cfm
