Sometimes after a closed head injury or brain injury the injured party may no longer be able to react quickly to stimulus. This can cause a person to become overwhelmed in situations that they used to do prior to being injured. For example, some victims of brain injury previously worked in high-paced environments and find acclimating back into the work field. They may seem to be normal but once they went the high stimulus environment, they realize how overwhelmed they are. Coping with this can be highly difficult. They deal with issues of comprehending why things are not as easy. There spouses, co-workers, and family may not understand why they cannot perform activities the same way. Furthermore, they realize the stress it is putting on everyone else around them which makes their anxiety grow more.
