A two-vehicle head-on crash in Marietta, Georgia turned tragic, killing one driver and leaving the other driver with serious injuries. About 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2013, this fatal Cobb County auto accident took place on Powder Springs Road near Kimberly Drive.
According to the Cobb County Police, a silver 2008 Toyota Tacoma was traveling northbound on Powder Springs Road when a vehicle traveling southbound struck the Toyota head-on. Cobb police spokesman Mike Bowman said “for reasons unknown” a driver of a white 1997 Oldsmobile Achieva, traveling southbound, veered into the northbound lanes of traffic and collided head-on into the Toyota pickup.
Investigators did indicate that the Toyota vehicle was positioned in the correct lane of traffic, and that the 65-year-old driver of the pickup truck suffered severe injuries as a result of the crash. Authorities said that Toyota driver Nhut D. Huynh, of Marietta, was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital for medical treatment of his very serious injuries.
The driver of the Oldsmobile succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the accident scene. Authorities identified him as 52-year-old Jose L. Olvera, of Marietta.
