Edgar Evans of Tucker is a hero. He rescued a man from a burning vehicle after a car crash at a DeKalb Chevron station.
The accident occurred at about 6:45 a.m. on the morning of Thursday, August 4 at the Chevron Station at 2755 Clairmont Road NE at Briarcliff Road. A driver was clipped from behind and lost control of his vehicle. He went over the curb and crashed into a gas pump. The pump and the car burst into flames.
Although he was not seriously injured, the man was trapped in his car by his deployed airbags. Edgar Evans was getting coffee for his wife when he saw the Dekalb County car crash. He realized that the driver needed help. He grabbed the driver and ran from the scene. His quick actions saved the driver's life.
News video showed a massive ball of flames and a huge plume of smoke into the sky. The car was totaled and the gas station sustained heavy damage.
