ATLANTA -- A five-car accident in DeKalb County left one person in critical condition Thursday morning.
The accident happened shortly after 7 a.m. on Ponce de Leon Avenue near Fernbank Museum.
Atlanta Police spokeswoman Kim Jones said the driver of a Nissan Altima lost control of his car, crossed the double yellow lines and slammed into a Dodge Caravan taxi.
The driver of the Altima was trapped inside the car; it took rescue crews nearly an hour to extract him. He was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition, with injuries that included head trauma and internal injuries.
The taxi driver suffered a broken leg, among other injuries. Police are not yet releasing the victims' names.
