A car crash in Coweta County occurred just before 2:00 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, April 11, 2013. The Sharpsburg car accident specifically took place on Georgia Highway 154 and the intersection with Old Highway 16, near the area of East Coweta High School. Police indicated that two vehicles were involved and three people were injured in the wreck, including an 80-year-old man.
Harry Robertson, 80, of Newnan, was driving southbound on Georgia Highway 154 in his 1989 Pontiac with his wife, Joyce Robertson, 75, by his side. When he came to the intersection with Old Highway 16, he stopped and then proceeded to make a left-hand turn. However, Deputy Ty Thompson with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office said that Robertson failed to yield and was struck by an approaching vehicle.
Joshua Bentley, 23, of Sharpsburg, was traveling in his Ford pickup truck on Georgia Highway 154 and collided into the Pontiac that made a left turn in front of his vehicle. He was transported by ambulance to Piedmont Fayette Hospital after suffering leg pain.
The Coweta County Fire Department extricated Mr. and Mrs. Robertson from their car, and Mr. Robertson was taken by a helicopter ambulance to Atlanta Medical Center. Mrs. Robertson was transported to the same hospital by ground ambulance for medical care. According to Deputy Thompson, their injuries did not appear to be life-threatening; however, officials took extra precautions due to their age.
Shane Smith Law would like to extend our wishes for a speedy recovery to all who were injured in this Coweta County auto accident.
