A Cumming, Georgia man was killed in a one-vehicle Georgia car crash after his truck ran off the road and crashed into a tree; the man was a suspect in a Canton Highway hit-and-run crash that occurred only moments earlier.
Forty-three-year-old Mark A. Ruff was travelling at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his 2001 GMC truck and struck a tree. The Forsyth County accident occurred at about 11:29 p.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2011 near the intersection of Dr. Bramblett Road and Wallace Lake Circle outside the city of Canton.
Ruff was the main suspect in a hit-and-run accident that occurred earlier on Canton Highway.
Both accidents remain under investigation by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office. It is unknown if driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol contributed to the Georgia car crash.
According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, speeding is a factor in almost one-third of fatal car crashes.
