Newnan woman killed in Heard County

A Newnan woman died Thursday from injuries sustained earlier in the day from a one-vehicle accident on Highway 34 just east of Franklin in Heard County.
Roberta Kay Stewart, 42, was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center where she later died from her injuries.
Stewart was westbound about 8 p.m. in a 1988 Jeep Wrangler when her right side tires left the roadway, said Gordy Wright, a public information officer with the Georgia State Patrol.

Stewart overcorrected, causing her vehicle to re-enter the roadway rotating, before going into the eastbound lane and overturning, Wright said. Alcohol was not involved and no one else was in the vehicle, he added.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Parrott Funeral Home with Brother Joe Honeycutt officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends today from 5 - 8 p.m. at Parrott Funeral Home in Fairburn.
