Ice cream trucks are irresistible to children. Unfortunately, they are also dangerous. A 10-year-old boy has died after being run over by an ice cream truck in Atlanta.
The accident occurred on the 700 block of Eloise Court in southeast Atlanta on Thursday, August 11 at about 9:15 p.m. The 10-year-old Jaquavis Hannah and a Bollett Brown were playing on the back of the ice cream truck. The driver, Warren Lee Roberson, asked the children's parents to get the kids off the truck, but the boys were still hanging on when the truck pulled away.
As Roberson began pulling out, Jaquavis fell under the wheel of the truck and was run over. The driver backed up to see why people were yelling and hit Bollet.
Jaquavis, who was starting fourth grade, died at the scene. Bollet sustained a broken leg and is recovering in the hospital.
The Atlanta pedestrian accident is still under investigation, but Roberson is not expected to face charges.
