Two Atlanta Teens Killed In Hall County Jeep Accident

Posted on Jul 06, 2011

Two young men, Brandon Hodges, 14, of Lawrenceville, and Christian Walker, 16, of Cumming, died in the single-vehicle wreck in Hall County, Georgia.
The Georgia traffic accident occurred at about 2 p.m. on the Fourth of July on Whelchel Mill Road, near Cool Springs Road, northwest of Gainesville. Hodges and Walker were passengers in a 1993 Jeep Wrangler which was driven by 19-year-old Tony James Delong Jr. of Gainesville.  There were two other passengers.
The driver lost control of the vehicle and the Jeep went off the dirt road at a curve and struck an embankment.  It then overturned several times. Hodges and Walker were thrown from the vehicle. They died at the scene.
Delong and two other teens, Jacob Lord, 15, and Kayla Natalie Parker, 18, both of Dawsonville, were injured and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The Hall County car crash is still under investigation. No charges have been filed.
The teens are two of nineteen people who were killed in Georgia motor vehicle accidents over this year's long July 4th holiday weekend. The number of fatalities nearly doubled last year's count of 11.
