Thursday, February 3, 2011 was a deadly day for Atlanta-area pedestrians. Two male pedestrians lost their lives in separate Atlanta area pedestrian accidents.
The first accident occurred on Thursday morning in Clayton County. A Dodge Caravan was travelling west on Mt. Zion Road when a BMW in an adjacent lane initiated a lane change. The Dodge swerved to avoid the BMW and struck 23-year-old Brandon Duncan who was crossing Mt. Zion Road at the time.
Mr. Duncan was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident is under investigation, but it is believed that one of the drivers will face charges.
The second pedestrian death occurred in DeKalb County at about 9 p.m. on Thursday night.
A man was crossing Hillandale Drive at Evans Mill Road near Lithonia when he was struck by a vehicle which drove away. After the hit-and-run driver left the scene of the DeKalb pedestrian accident, a second vehicle hit the injured man. The second driver stayed at the scene.
The accident is under investigation. Police are trying to locate the driver of the first vehicle, but they have no vehicle description.
