Wrong-Way Driver Causes Four-Car Accident in Gwinnett County

On August 25, 2013, a wrong-way driver caused a multi-vehicle accident on I-85 near the Pleasant Hill Road exit. According to authorities, this four-car accident in Gwinnett County took place early Sunday morning around 4 a.m.

The Gwinnett County Police stated that the wrong-way driver was driving southbound in the northbound lanes of Interstate 85. The female driver was first spotted by motorists going in the wrong direction near mile marker 106, which is near exit SR 316 to Lawrenceville. It appears she continued driving in the wrong direction and caused a four-car crash close to the Pleasant Hill Road exit.

Authorities reported that the driver continued on after the crash, but police caught up to her by the Beaver Ruin Road exit. According to the Gwinnett County Police, the wrong-way driver was traveling in the wrong direction for about four miles. She has been identified as Alysha Harvin, of Jonesboro.

Of the four cars involved in the crash, one of the vehicles overturned and rolled over several times, and the other three vehicles crashed into each other. Amazingly, no one suffered serious injuries.

Police arrested Harvin, who now faces charges for DUI, hit and run reckless driving, and driving on the wrong side of the road.

Shane Smith Law would like to wish everyone in these four vehicles that crashed a full and fast recovery. We would also like to take this opportunity to remind all drivers that drinking and driving are dangerous, and our Georgia DUI victim attorneys continue to remind motorists to not drive drunk.
