With decades of legal and military experience, Shane is dedicated to helping injury victims recover physically, financially, and emotionally after serious accidents.
Deep Roots in the Southeast
Shane is a Georgia native who has built both his life and career in the Southeast. After graduating from high school in Fayette County, he attended the University of Georgia before earning his undergraduate degree Magna Cum Laude from Georgia State University.
He went on to graduate Cum Laude from Georgia State University College of Law, where he gained early legal experience working with local attorneys and interning with the Fulton and Rockdale County District Attorney’s Offices. He also competed nationally as part of the Student Trial Lawyers Association.
Military Service and Trial Experience
After law school, Shane served as a Judge Advocate (JAG) in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed with the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) at Fort Campbell and later at Fort Benning.
During his military service, Shane:
- Practiced as a criminal defense attorney across the Southeast
- Served as lead counsel on a military homicide case
- Focused on defending serious felony charges
- Graduated from Air Assault School
This experience shaped his trial skills, discipline, and ability to handle high-stakes cases, qualities he now brings to his work as an Atlanta and Charlotte personal injury lawyer.

After leaving the Army, Shane returned to Georgia and began practicing personal injury law at a major Atlanta firm. In just four years, he handled over 500 cases, ranging from minor injuries to complex tractor-trailer collisions.
Today, through Shane Smith Law, he represents clients throughout Atlanta, GA and Charlotte, NC, helping individuals with injuries such as:
- Soft tissue and spinal injuries
- Broken bones requiring surgery
- Lumbar fusion cases
