This last week we were up in Charlotte, and I struggled with allergies all week. It’s been bad the last couple weeks, but I really struggled with it Monday and Tuesday. I’d have a good day, then the next day I would just be exhausted and stuffy. I was trying to feel better and get things ready to go because Noah graduated from college on Saturday from High Point University. We were excited about that big day.
We had family come into town on Thursday. Holly’s parents came in and spent a little bit of time with us and then on Friday we took them to lunch. We ordered Noah one of the Great American Cookie Company’s cookie cakes. Contrary to what we’re used to, we could only find one Great American Cookie Company in Charlotte so we had to drive to downtown to go get his cake. Noah is pretty particular, he only wanted chocolate icing on it. We had to go get that, and then we took Holly’s parents to Chubb’s. We’ve been there a couple of times. They make smash burgers. They’ve been around a long time and one thing I’ll say is their staff is super nice, friendly, talkative, and they make a really good smash burger.

I’ve had two different ones. I’ve had the one with chili and without chili. I prefer the one without chili, but that’s just because the chili sort of overcomes the smash burger taste and I mostly taste the chili, which is good. No complaints, I heartily recommend either one but I like my Smash burgers without chili I decided. They also have some seasoning that goes on their fries, which is good as well. They have milkshakes if that’s your thing too.
Then Friday night my brother and my niece and nephew came into town. We had Pizza Hut and had to get my normal, go-to pizza which is pan-style meat lovers. However, I recently was looking at it, and thin and crispy meat lovers have about half the calories of a pan style, so we got one of each and I switched to that Friday night.

Then on Saturday, we got up super bright and early. My parents had been planning to come to the house on Friday, but they hit a bunch of traffic in Atlanta and then in Charlotte as well, and had to go straight to High Point to the RV park and check in. The RV Park they were staying at didn’t have late check-ins, they had to get there before 7:00 and they were worried about that. If you know of a great RV park near High Point University, I’d love to know that. The other one they were at didn’t have late check-in, so it put a damper on some of our plans. If you know of one send it to info@shanesmithlaw.com for next time.

That being said, the weather came in on Saturday morning and it was rainy. That was a downer because that moved the graduation to inside the stadium, which complicated things. It made parking harder and had an impact on how many people everybody could bring so then they had to go into the overflow.
We were super excited. We saw Noah and his girlfriend graduate. Both graduated in four years with good grades, which is, I won’t say unusual, but it was a great accomplishment. The graduation ceremony was good. We had wonderful seats to see it all, and it was great to see the culmination of four years, so that’s exciting. Noah plans to go to HPU Law next year. He had already met with the dean and admissions and all of that and had gotten notice that he was unofficially accepted, but he would not get his official letter until next week. We were sort of waiting to celebrate that, but they both graduated and had a wonderful time.
We then went to La Hacienda, which is Noah’s favorite Mexican restaurant. We went there and had a celebratory meal with all of our family and him. Then we took the family back to our house and let Noah finish up graduation with his fraternity and his friends there.
Sunday morning, we headed back down to Atlanta with everybody to start another week. Hope you all are doing well. Remember, if you are in pain, call Shane!
