Georgia’s Driving Under the Influence Laws are complex. Clayton County DUI injury lawyer Shane Smith can sort through the intermingled laws that potentially create complications in a DUI case.
A 21-year-old Georgia man was stopped by Athens police officers for driving a golf cart without any headlights in the early morning hours. The man admitted he had come from a bar and claimed that he had found the Athens Convention Center golf cart laying on its side and merely wanted to make sure it was operable. A bicycle officer watched as the golf cart driver made an illegal U-turn while driving without lights. The man was charged with DUI and theft by receiving since the golf cart did not belong to him.
