How the accident happened
AC was rear-ended in a serious crash with significant property damage. The impact pushed his vehicle into the car in front of him, causing extensive damage to both the front and rear of his vehicle. The force of the collision resulted in serious injuries to both his neck and lower back.
Injuries and medical treatment
AC sustained severe cervical and lumbar spine injuries.
- Neck: He ultimately required a multi-level cervical fusion surgery.
- Lower back: Surgery was recommended, but an underlying aneurysm made surgery unsafe. Instead, he underwent multiple injections and a lumbar ablation to manage pain.
Despite the complexity of his condition and a long treatment timeline that lasted nearly two years, AC consistently followed his doctors’ recommendations.
Insurance strategy and recovery
Initially, we recovered $300,000 from the primary liability coverage. Through further investigation, we identified additional coverage under another policy. The opposing side attempted to push the case toward mediation to reduce the value, but we held firm.
The case ultimately resolved for an additional $500,000, bringing AC’s total recovery to $800,000.
Outcome for the client
AC was very happy with the result. While the physical injuries were serious and life-altering, the financial recovery reflected the severity of what he endured and provided meaningful compensation for his long-term needs.
