Should you give a recorded statement after a car accident?
Today, Shane Smith joined Mia on Charlotte Today to discuss this topic and share general guidance on what people should know after a car accident.
A common question we hear is:
“Should I give a recorded statement to the insurance company after an accident?”
The short answer is no.
We do not recommend that our clients give recorded statements to the other driver’s insurance company. In most cases, those statements are used to protect the insurance company, not you. Adjusters are trained to ask questions in a way that can later be used to minimize your injuries or shift responsibility for the crash.
Before you speak with any insurance company on a recorded line, you should speak with a lawyer who can explain your rights and help protect your claim.
