What should you do if you are injured as a passenger in someone else’s car?
Today, Shane Smith joined Eugene Robinson on Charlotte Today to discuss this topic and share general guidance on what people should know after a car accident.
If you are hurt as a passenger, you should do the same thing you would do in any accident:
- Get medical care right away if you are injured.
- Make sure your injuries are properly documented by a doctor.
What changes in a passenger case is who is responsible for paying for your injuries.
Your claim may be against:
- The driver of the car you were riding in, or
- The other driver involved in the crash.
That is why it is important to:
- Get a copy of the accident report, and
- Make sure you understand what the police determined at the scene.
As a passenger, you may not know exactly how the crash happened, so the accident report becomes especially important.
