Unexpected Accident Woman Killed by Flying Tire in I285 Atlanta Car Crash

A 56-year-old woman was killed on Thursday in a tragic car accident that closed down all lanes of I-285 west at Bouldercrest Road.

 
A Georgia State University van was travelling eastbound on I-285 when its left tire came off and crossed the median line. Debra Driscoll of Virginia was killed when the flying tire struck her Hyundai Sonata as she was travelling west on the interstate. A second car was also hit by the tire, but it received only front end damages. No one else was hurt.

 
The van belonged to GSU’s School of Public Policy. The driver was the only occupant.
