This past week was packed, in the best way. It brought a blend of long-term health planning, early morning workouts, business development, and a touch of Halloween hangover fun.
I spent most of the week out of town, but returned with a clear mind, a healthy report, and plenty to be thankful for as we head into the holiday season.
Prioritizing Health in Miami
Holly and I flew down to Miami early in the week for a combination of personal health and professional focus. Monday and Tuesday were entirely devoted to something we had both been putting off for too long: full executive physicals.
We met with a trusted physician who specializes in comprehensive diagnostic evaluations, which meant undergoing extensive lab work, a series of scans, and assessments to ensure everything under the hood was working properly.
The results were encouraging. Everything looked great, which is always a relief. My cholesterol came back so clean that the doctor actually asked whether I was on any medication.
’m not, which made it feel like a big win. It’s really just a reflection of sticking with a pretty simple routine: high-protein meals, lots of chicken and rice, very little sugar, and careful attention to daily macros. Honestly, the hardest part has always been keeping fat in check.
My trainer limits me to about 41 grams a day, which makes planning every meal a bit of a puzzle, but it’s clearly paying off. That alone made the trip worthwhile.

Early Workouts and Late Lessons
The physicals wrapped up just as the business portion of the trip kicked in. From Wednesday to Friday, I attended a leadership and growth conference with my business group.
One of the cool things about this group is that many of the members prioritize physical fitness alongside entrepreneurship, so early morning group workouts are part of the routine. These are 5:00 a.m. sessions, which is earlier than I usually prefer, but I showed up and got it done.
On Wednesday, we trained chest and biceps; on Friday, it was shoulders. We took a group photo afterward, all of us sweaty and smiling, ready to take on a day full of workshops, breakout sessions, and strategic planning. It’s energizing to be around people who push themselves in more than one area of life.
During the trip, I also started paying more attention to some of the smaller nutrition decisions I’ve been making. I discovered that sugar-free Jell-O actually contains a surprising amount of collagen and protein.
That’s something I had never thought much about, but now it might be a regular part of my routine. It fits my macros, helps with recovery, and is super convenient. Small shifts like that can make a big difference.
Gadgets, Shirts, and Home Projects
With a little downtime between sessions, Holly and I stopped by a local mall. I came across a colorful designer shirt that I really liked. It had this bright, happy design, something you’d wear just to make people smile.
I didn’t end up buying it, mostly because I couldn’t justify the cost at that moment, but I snapped a picture. Sometimes, you just appreciate the artistry of something even if you don’t bring it home.
We’re also continuing to brainstorm ideas for our new home design. I saw this thermostat hub that can control the heating and cooling settings for the entire house from a central point. With kids who love to blast the AC upstairs regardless of the season, that kind of control could be a game-changer.
I’d love to know if anyone has experience using a central panel like that, because it looks like it could make things a lot more efficient.

Traveling, Airports, and Sunrise Moments
One upside of the early workout schedule was getting to see the sunrise every morning. That’s something I don’t normally catch during my regular workweek. There’s something peaceful about finishing a workout and stepping outside just as the sun comes up; it resets your focus and reminds you to breathe.
On our way home, while walking through the Atlanta airport, I noticed something I had somehow missed in all my travels: a Blue Moon-branded restaurant and tavern.
Holly’s favorite beer is Blue Moon, so I had to take a picture and mentally bookmark it. Next time we’re flying through Atlanta, we’re making a stop there. It’s not something we’d normally plan for, but it’s a small experience I think she’d really enjoy.

Renaissance Festival Weekend: A Perfect Finish
Once we were back home, we didn’t slow down. On Saturday, we attended the Night Renaissance Festival in Fairburn, Georgia. It’s one of our favorite fall events, and this year we went all in with steampunk costumes.
There’s something fun about stepping into another world for a few hours and just enjoying the creativity and energy around you. We’ve always liked events like this, and dressing up adds to the fun.
Before we left, I snapped a picture with Luna, our dog, who has a habit of sneaking behind me and laying down almost like a shadow. She actually lets me lie partially on her, which is just her way of being close. It was one of those small, quiet moments that make a big week feel grounded.
A Season of Gratitude
Now that Halloween is officially behind us, it feels like the holiday season has truly begun. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, not just because of the food, but because of what it represents: gratitude, reflection, and time with family without the pressure of gift-giving or party planning. Just a chance to pause and appreciate the good things.
This week, I was reminded of how valuable our health is, how important it is to challenge yourself physically and mentally, and how much joy can come from shared experiences, whether it’s sweating it out with your business tribe at 5:00 a.m., dressing in steampunk with your spouse, or simply seeing the sunrise with a clear mind.
Here’s to more weeks like this one. And as always, I’d love to hear from you, whether it’s your favorite holiday tradition, your secret macro-friendly snack, or your go-to smart home gadget. Let me know what’s working for you.
