When a “Short Week” Isn’t Really Short
Some weeks look short on paper.
This one did.
But in reality, it felt rushed from the start.
Coming off time away and knowing another trip was right around the corner created pressure to fit everything into a few days. There was no easing into the week. It was immediate catch-up mode.
That feeling is familiar. When you are responsible for a business, especially in a fast-moving environment, time away does not pause anything. It just compresses everything into a tighter window when you get back.

Catching Up Fast
The focus early in the week was simple. Catch up on anything missed and get ahead wherever possible.
That means going through emails, returning calls, checking on ongoing matters, and making sure nothing slipped through the cracks.
But it is not just about catching up. It is about doing it efficiently.
You have to decide quickly what matters most and what can wait. You have to trust your team, rely on your systems, and move forward without overthinking every detail.
Because if you try to do everything, you end up doing nothing well.
A Quick Turn to Charlotte
In the middle of all that, there was a quick trip up to Charlotte.
Just one day.
But even a one day trip takes planning, time, and energy.
Travel days break up momentum. They force you to switch gears. But they also serve a purpose. Being in the office, even briefly, helps keep alignment and reinforces the connection with the team.
It was a fast trip, but an important one.

Building Something From the Ground Up
One of the highlights of the week was meeting with the architect to go over plans for a new home and gym.
This is still early in the process, but seeing initial layouts makes it feel real.
At the same time, it is a reminder of how complex building something from scratch can be.
Every decision leads to another decision. Layouts, design, functionality, long-term use. It is a process that requires patience.
It also mirrors business more than people realize. You are constantly building, adjusting, and refining with a long-term vision in mind.
And just like business, it takes longer than expected.

Early Start, Long Travel Day
Saturday came quickly and the trip to South Korea was upon us.
The alarm came early.
Travel days always seem to start before the sun comes up, especially when you are heading international.
There is always that added layer of uncertainty with airports. Timing, security, lines. Even with TSA PreCheck, things do not always go as expected.
This time, the PreCheck line was actually longer than the regular line.
But once you are through, everything settles. You board the plane, take your seat, and shift into travel mode.
The Reality of a 14 Hour Flight
A 14 hour flight forces you to slow down whether you want to or not.
There is no rushing. No multitasking the way you normally would.
It becomes a transition period.
You leave one place, both physically and mentally, and prepare to step into something completely different.
You take off one day and land the next. Time zones shift. Your schedule resets.
It is one of the few moments where everything pauses.
Arrival and Reset
After landing, the focus is simple. Get settled.
Check into the hotel. Get your bearings. Adjust to the new environment.
Travel fatigue is real, especially after a long flight. So the first day is not about doing everything. It is about easing into it.
Being part of a tour group adds structure, which helps. It takes some of the pressure off planning and allows you to focus on the experience.
Starting the Anniversary Trip in Korea
This trip marked a meaningful moment.
An anniversary trip is different from regular travel. It is intentional. It is about stepping away from the routine and spending time together in a new setting.
South Korea offered a completely different environment.
Different culture. Different pace. Different energy.
Even simple things like walking through the city, navigating new streets, and observing how daily life operates in another country make the experience stand out.
Exploring and Experiencing Something New
The first full day was about getting out and seeing what South Korea had to offer.
Parks, city views, and just being present in a new place.
There is something about travel that changes perspective. It slows things down just enough to notice details you might otherwise miss.
Even after a busy week, being in a different country creates a natural reset.
Food, Expectations, and Reality
One of the biggest expectations people have when traveling is food.
Trying new things. Experiencing local culture through meals.
But the reality is, not everyone travels that way.
Sometimes, comfort wins.
There is something funny about traveling halfway across the world and still ending up at familiar places like McDonald’s or a burger spot.
At the same time, there were moments of trying something different, like Korean barbecue hot pot.
It is a mix.
And that is what makes it real.
Adjusting to a New Pace
The shift from a packed work week to being overseas is not immediate.
It takes time to fully slow down.
Your mind is still moving at the same speed. Still thinking about what needs to get done.
But gradually, that starts to change.
The environment forces you to adjust.
You walk more, observe more, think a little less about work and a little more about where you are.
What Weeks Like This Teach
Weeks like this are not easy.
They are full. They are fast. They require constant adjustment.
But they also highlight something important.
You can handle more than you think, as long as you stay focused and keep moving forward.
It also reinforces the importance of stepping away when you can.
Because without that reset, everything starts to blur together.
The Bigger Picture
At the end of the week, it is not just about what got done.
It is about balance.
Work matters. Growth matters. Building something matters.
But so does time away. So does experience. So does being present with the people that matter most.
And sometimes, the busiest weeks are the ones that lead into the most meaningful moments.
If you or someone you know is dealing with the stress and disruption after an accident, having the right team makes a difference.
