By Shane Smith, Personal Injury Lawyer – Shane Smith Law
Hey there! I’m Shane Smith, and when I’m not working with my law firm or shooting videos for my business, I try to take time each week to reflect on what made life full, funny, or memorable.
This week was one of those that reminded me how much can fit into seven short days. From pasture mowing and line dancing to blood donations and a Harry Potter-themed wedding, it was a busy stretch but a good kind of busy.
🚜Monday on the Ranch
The week kicked off with some fresh air and fieldwork. We had someone come out to mow several of the pastures on our family ranch, and my father-in-law, Mike, went out to meet him. The goal was to see what kind of equipment he was using so we could decide whether to invest in our own or keep outsourcing the job.
I have to say; the guy does great work. He’s mowed for us in years past, and he’s one of those rare people who really takes pride in his work and doing something right. The pastures always look sharp when he’s finished, and the price is fair.
We haven’t made a final decision on whether to buy equipment, but there’s something deeply satisfying about seeing acres of grass trimmed cleanly by someone who enjoys it.

💃Two-Stepping with Holly
By Thursday night, it was time to hang up the work shoes and put on my dancing boots. My wife, Holly, and I have been taking line-dancing lessons at a local spot, and we are finally starting to look like we halfway know what we’re doing.
It’s a great place; the crowd is friendly, the music is upbeat, and the laughter comes easy. Especially when we spin in the wrong direction or forget a step. It’s one of those simple joys that keeps you grounded.
If you haven’t ever tried line dancing, I highly recommend it. You can’t help but crack a smile while doing it.
🎥Behind the Scenes: Video Projects and Long Nights
The middle of the week was full of video shoots; something I’ve been doing more of lately for both the law firm I own and our other business projects. My home office, which also doubles as a small library, has become my new recording studio.
Between setting up lights, checking sound, and re-shooting takes, it’s time-intensive, but a new found passion of mine. The goal is to create content that helps people; whether that’s explaining a legal question in plain English or giving business owners a peek behind the curtain of how we run things.
It’s work that takes patience, but it’s rewarding to see my ideas take shape on camera.

🌮A Spicy Surprise at Dinner
Holly and I also decided to venture out of our comfort zones by trying a new Mexican restaurant for dinner one night this week. This one is a little fancier than our usual spot with colorful decor and a creative cocktail list.
On that cocktail list, I spotted a unique drink called the Pepino and decided since we were already adventurous enough to try a new Mexican spot I mind as well go all the way and ordered it.
The menu said “a little heat.” Well, I should have known better. It was delicious but way spicier than expected. Let’s just say I was sweating through my “little heat” drink while Holly tried not to laugh.
The food was fantastic; rich, flavorful, and fun. Everything you could want when craving some good Mexican food. We’ll definitely go back, though I might stick to something milder next time.

🩸Giving Blood and Doing Good
On Thursday morning, I had scheduled a blood donation. I try to donate when I can; it’s such a small thing that makes a huge difference.
I initially showed up at the wrong place because I misread my appointment time, but I found a Red Cross center nearby and donated there instead.
It reminded me how many people give either time and blood to help strangers they’ll never meet. It’s something small but powerful; and I always leave feeling thankful.
🦌Deer in the Neighborhood
Back home in Peachtree City, hunting season started a few weeks ago, and the deer had all but disappeared for a while. But this week, they started wandering back out again.
There’s something calming about seeing them grazing early in the morning. They move quietly, like they’re reminding you to slow down and appreciate the simple things.
💍Ashley’s Wedding Magic
Friday night brought something special; a wedding for one of our senior attorneys, Ashley, who’s been part of our team for years. She and her fiancé tied the knot in a beautiful garden-style ceremony that subtly paid tribute to their love of Harry Potter.
From themed decorations to thoughtful touches like goodie bags for guests, it was a celebration that felt genuine and full of love. The food was outstanding; especially for catering, heaving on the meats, seasoned perfectly, and delicious from start to finish.
Several of our team members were there, which made the night even more enjoyable. We laughed, danced, and toasted to new beginnings under the lights. It was one of those weddings that felt effortless, joyful, warm, and perfectly “them.”
💤Sunday Reset
By Sunday morning, Holly and I were running on empty. After such a packed week, we finally let ourselves rest; a quiet day of catching up on sleep, sharing leftovers, and watching a movie. Sometimes the best part of being busy is giving yourself permission to stop for a minute.
🌟 Looking Back
When I look back on the week, it’s amazing how much fit into just a few days; a little ranch work, a little dancing, a little giving, and a lot of celebrating. It’s easy to let days blur together when life gets hectic, but when you stop and reflect, you realize how full life really is.
Here’s to more of that; more laughter, more family time, more meaningful work. And maybe just slightly fewer spicy cocktails.
