What Hyundai models are being recalled? Due to various defects, Hyundai has issued recalls for models that include the Hyundai Palisade, Ioniq, Tucson, Santa Cruz, Santa Fe, Sonata, and Genesis.
Each model has exhibited unique and dangerous flaws that can result in injuries. If you’ve been the victim of one of these defective models, contact a Charlotte product liability lawyer to discuss your right to a legal claim.
2023-2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Hyundai Ioniq 6
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the Hyundai Ioniq 6 have both been affected by recalls affecting different aspects of the vehicles’ features. The dangers of these defective parts contribute to how faulty products cause injury. They can either contribute to crashes or increase the risk of injury, especially when thousands of Hyundai Ioniq models are affected by the recalls.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 models have been recalled for an incorrect headlight aim label on the vehicle’s right side. This issue can make it difficult to see the road sufficiently, which can be dangerous for drivers. It is also a non-compliance issue with federal vehicle standards. An estimated 10,409 vehicles have been impacted by this defect.
For the Hyundai Ioniq 6 model, the electric vehicle’s charging port door has been known to come off the vehicle. This not only exposes the port to the elements, but it can also land on the road after it detaches and contribute to an accident by creating a hazard. Manufacturers plan to provide an adhesive to keep the charging port door in place. Approximately 31,042 models were recalled over this defect.

Call (980) 294-49312020-2026 Hyundai Palisade
The Hyundai Palisade has been identified as part of Hyundai recall notices and has been recalled for a couple of different issues. Hyundai models that are defective risk the safety of drivers and occupants, and manufacturers work to design and provide fixes to these issues to improve the safety of motorists. Owners of the Hyundai Palisade or other models should respond promptly to recall notices.
An estimated 568,580 Hyundai Palisades spanning the 2020-2025 models have been recalled due to defective seatbelt buckles. The issue caused seatbelts not to latch properly, so vehicle occupants were not properly restrained. These faulty seat belts put vehicle occupants in significant danger if an accident occurs, which is why vehicle owners should get their vehicles serviced to receive the remedy for the issue.
Additionally, the Hyundai Palisade has also had issues with its power seats, which led Hyundai to issue a stop sale and plan a recall on the 2026 Hyundai Palisade Limited and Calligraphy trims. The Palisade’s seats fail to recognize people or objects in the row behind the seat and stop leaning back. Sadly, this defect led to the death of a young child who was crushed by the faulty seat.
Hyundai Tucson, Hyundai Santa Cruz, and Hyundai Santa Fe
Among the Hyundai models being recalled, the Hyundai Tucson, Santa Cruz, and Santa Fe models have had a few recalls over the past few years. The 2025 Hyundai Tucson has faulty wiring that allows the vehicle to be shifted from park without the use of the brake, thereby causing the vehicle to potentially roll away. Drivers are encouraged to use the parking brake and get a dealer to fix the problem promptly.
The 2025 Santa Cruz model has also been affected by the same shifting defect that affected the Tucson. Additionally, Hyundai recalled 421,000 Tucson and Santa Cruz models over sudden braking. This issue involves an issue with the front cameras on 2025-2026 Santa Cruz pickup trucks and Tucson models that trigger the crash avoidance technology and the brakes. Sudden stopping can increase the risk of a crash.
The 2021-2022 Hyundai Santa Fe line of vehicles has had issues with a damaged portion of the circuit board, preventing a visible image of the rearview camera. The cameras can be replaced by dealers to fix the defect. Additionally, approximately 34,964 2024 models have been recalled for a rear sunshade switch that was not fully recessed. Vehicle owners must get the knob replaced to resolve the issue.
Hyundai Sonata
The Hyundai Sonata is another one of the recalled Hyundai models. An estimated 38,331 Hyundai Sonata models from 2024 have been recalled due to faulty brakes. Problems in the software can cause the brake lights to not light properly or flash. Defective brake lights can contribute to car crashes and fail to meet federal guidelines for vehicle lights. The software must be updated to correct the issue.
The Sonata has also had a highly dangerous defect that affects the fuel tank in 2020-2023 vehicle models. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Part 573 safety recall report, air becomes pressurized in the fuel tank and causes deformation and leaks. This defect can cause a fire risk that can contribute to injury or death if an accident occurs.
Hyundai Genesis
Two of the Hyundai Genesis models have been recalled for serious issues. Most recently, the Genesis GV60, GV70, and G80 models have had issues with the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). This feature can fail and cause the battery to stop charging. The resulting loss of power can be a serious crash risk.
Additionally, older Genesis Coupe models have had problems with a fractured return spring in the ignition switch. This problem can cause the vehicle to move unintentionally, which can cause an accident. Both of these issues require dealers to make repairs to resolve the issue.
