How often will my lawyer or case team contact me?
This is one of the most common questions we hear from clients at Shane Smith Law.
The short answer is: you will hear from us regularly, and you will always be able to reach us when you need us.
Here is how our communication typically works.
During your medical treatment
While you are actively treating, a member of your case team, usually a case manager or paralegal, will reach out about every two weeks.
These check-ins are important so we can:
- make sure your treatment is moving forward
- confirm there are no problems with appointments, referrals, or records
- catch issues early before they hurt your case
Attorney contact and case updates
Your attorney stays involved in your case throughout the process, even if they are not calling every two weeks.
You can expect your attorney to personally contact you:
- at the beginning of your case
- around the first 30 days
- whenever there is a major change, such as negotiations starting or an offer being made
During negotiations, your attorney will contact you to:
- explain the offer
- discuss what the insurance company is doing
- walk through your options and next steps
If something goes wrong or you have concerns
If there is ever a problem, your attorney will step in right away.
That includes issues such as:
- trouble getting an MRI or specialist appointment
- concerns about a recommended procedure or treatment
- questions about how medical decisions may affect your case
We want you to feel comfortable and informed before making any decisions.
You never have to wait to hear from us
If you need to speak with your lawyer at any time, you can simply call and ask.
We work for you, and your questions matter.
Our goal is to support you through your medical recovery and protect your case at the same time.
In pain? Call Shane.
