What Causes Atlanta Car Accidents

Almost all Atlanta car crashes can be attributed to one of the following:

  1. Driver behavior
  2. Insufficient roadway maintenance
  3. Poor roadway design
  4. Equipment failure

Ninety-five percent of all accidents are due to driver behavior.  Driver behavior includes: distracted driving, speeding, driving too fast for road conditions, reckless driving, running stop lights, running stop signs, unsafe lane changes, wrong-way driving, improper turns, tailgating, driving under the influence of drugs, road rage, drowsy driving, and street racing.  Insufficient roadway maintenance, poor roadway design, and equipment failure combined cause less than five percent of all accidents. When these are factors, it is often in combination with driver behavior.

So, the real answer is that drivers cause Atlanta car accidents. This means that nearly all accidents are preventable.

Even if the accident is not your fault, you may have a hard time receiving insurance compensation for your injuries.  Insurance companies are more interested in cutting costs than helping you get the compensation you deserve.  In order to reduce your settlement, they may even try to blame you for the accident.

If you have been injured in an accident that was not your fault, don’t let insurance company scare tactics keep you from the fair payment you deserve for your injury.  Fight back; contact Atlanta car accident attorney Shane Smith at (980) 246-2656
