A woman died after being critically injured in a Friday night golf cart accident.

Beverly McDowell, 45, was one of five people injured when a golf cart transporting guests overturned at a private campaign event for 9th District U.S. Rep. Tom Graves. The accident occurred at about 7:30 p.m. on Friday, August 6th at a home in the 3700 blocks of the Harbour Point subdivision where about 100 supporters of Graves gathered for a fundraising event.

The cart crashed into some vehicles, spun out, and overturned.  The passengers were ejected from the cart.  One man broke a collar bone.  He and two other passengers were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center by ambulance.
The 19-year-old driver sustained minor injuries.
Ms. McDowell was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center where she died from her injuries.
