A third-grader is in critical condition after being hit by a truck at a school bus stop. The Georgia pedestrian accident occurred on Tuesday, , shortly after 7 a.m. in front of the victim’s residence on the 1300 block of Mesena Road in Thomson. Eight-year-old Cassius Walker was waiting for his school bus to pick him up and take him to school Thomson Elementary School. He was on the road to get on the school bus when he was hit by a 1984 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck. Walker was taken to the trauma unit of Medical College of Georgia Hospital in Augusta. The driver of the truck was identified as 50-year-old Wayman Brown of Thomson. He was traveling west while the bus was traveling east. There were 35 children on the bus. They were put on another bus to an auditorium where they received counseling before being released to their parents. Shane Smith Law would like to wish Cassius Walker a speedy recovery.
