On July 28, 2013, a Georgia boating accident on Lake Lanier occurred that resulted in one man being arrested and one man being sent to the hospital with injuries. This Georgia boat wreck took place Sunday evening around 6:47 p.m. in the Shoal Creek area of Lake Lanier.
According to reports, a boat operator was pulling a tube with two people when he made a left turn. This maneuver caused the tube to crash into another boat that was reported to be sitting still, according to Sgt. Mike Burgamy of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division.
According to Burgamy, one person in the tube was injured and was verbally complaining of leg and chest pain. The injured 31-year-old man was taken to Lanier Harbor Marina by the Hall County Fire Services marine rescue unit. Then the injured man was passed over to Gwinnett County Fire and loaded in an ambulance and taken to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville for medical care. An update on his condition has not been reported; however, Gwinnett Fire stated that he was in stable condition at the time they were transporting him to the hospital.
The boat driver, 37-year-old Andrew Ross Lockey, of Buford, was arrested and charged with boating under the influence (BUI) and reckless operation.
