The EOBR collects many points of data about the operation of the truck, including these 10 important records:
- driver and co-driver’s name and ID numbers;
- duty status of the truck;
- date and time of record;
- total miles driven that date;
- truck or tractor and trailer identification number;
- name and USDOT number of carrier;
- starting time of the 24-hour recording period;
- the consecutive day period the driver is operating;
- hours in each 24-hour duty status and total hours; and
- shipping document number(s) or name of shipper and commodity.
While the EOBR is designed to record this information and output it in a physical or digital report, obtaining this report is often difficult for truck accident victims. This critical piece of evidence can support your injury claim, but the trucking companies will not want you to have leverage against their driver so they can avoid a settlement.
By working with truck accident attorneys who know how to obtain the evidence for your injury claim you can help make the settlement process go much smoother than trying to pursue a claim on your own.
