The Three Types of Slip and Fall Cases

Have you been injured in a slip and fall accident? Are you aware of the types of hazards that can cause these accidents? Norcross premises liability attorney Shane Smith explains them in this video.

There are actually three types of slip and fall cases. We have the standard slip and fall accident, where someone slips on a foreign substance. This occurs when a person slips on an item that should not be on the floor, such as a grape, vegetable oil, or even a hot wheels car left in Walmart.

The second type of slip and fall is a static defect. This is normally an incident that occurs outside where problems with the premises have developed over a long period of time. Examples of static defects include a hole in the ground, a crack in the sidewalk, or any other issue that makes the premises dangerous and hazardous.

The third involves improper design. When ramps or steps are designed and installed incorrectly, it can cause slips and falls to happen frequently. These are usually expensive cases because we have to hire experts to prove that the step or ramp was actually designed improperly and doesn’t meet building codes.
